Dr Dan Joins Debenham Youth Council Ice Skating

Dr Dan with local members of the Debenham Youth Council

On Friday night Dr Dan was very pleased to attend ‘Debenham On Ice’ the first event organised by Debenham Youth Council. The Youth Council was set up to provide a voice for the young people of Debenham who feel that there is a lack of provision for them in the town.

The mobile ice rink they arranged came to the High School for two days and provided a place for all the people of Debenham to come together. There was a disco on the Friday evening aimed at attracting more young people to join in the work of the Youth Council. Dr Dan was delighted to see our young people, who are so often denigrated, getting together and doing something so positive for their community and will be continuing to support future Youth Council events in Debenham.

Congratulations must go to Nathan Abbott, Ollie Hallpike and Aaron Helm as well as to Jane Baldwin who acts as the Youth Council’s Adult Liaison Officer. Keep up the good work!

I draw the attention of Members to my declaration of interest as a practising NHS psychiatrist and as someone who has worked in drug addiction, or drug treatment, services. I do not intend to rehearse the discussion on the lack of, or reduction in, funding for the...

Children and Mental Health Services — [Mark Pritchard in the Chair] (16 Jul 2019)
Daniel Poulter: I congratulate my hon. Friend on securing the debate; he is making some very good points. As he recognises, CAMHS are the Cinderella services of the Cinderella service—mental health is still woefully underfunded in comparison with many other parts of the NHS. Does he also recognise that CAMHS recruitment is a real challenge? The August 2019 fill rates for higher trainees in the UK stand at...
